About Old Maids Cottage, Ilfracombe
The Garden and Grounds
The cottage has generous gardens affording good outside space, the adventurous can explore the woods above the house. Smaller enclosed spaces have been created to provide a level garden area for children, ideal for sunbathing and dining under the stars (from Easter to the end of September a large barbeque is available). The cottage is on a quiet lane which serves the village but is fully enclosed - there is ample protection, both for privacy and to ensure that young children or dogs do not inadvertently wander onto the lane. There is also off road parking for 2 cars.
The garden is mainly laid to lawn with shrubs and pot plants. There is plenty of outside seating.
Downstairs you’ll discover a set of three interconnected reception rooms with wonderful polished old stone floors, and charming leaded windows giving views of the gardens.
The sitting room has ample seating including two sink-into sofas arranged around a stylish wood burning fire. On cosy autumn or winter evenings relax here and enjoy the DVD/TV or use the iPod docking system as background to a good book.
The modern kitchen with a contemporary design has been carefully laid out to provide lots of room in a galley style, to enable the cook for the evening to interact with the other guests. It’s spacious and fully equipped with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge and separate freezer.
The third area is the dining ‘room”, which is fitted out with country pine dining table and beautiful hand carved pew style benches with seating for up to 8 people.
